What a Summer
What a Summer
I’ve been back in Unity fairly regularly again. I think the break did my mental state a lot of good. Almost immediately upon returning to game dev, I was able to clean up some of chaos the source directory was turning into. This allowed me to identify and clear up some bad code, which cleared up some performance issues, which gave the profiler cleaner output. From there I found almost all of my terrain details were double and triple spawned in any one location. After cleaning up the extra spawns, the editor is running between 40 and 50 FPS with no occlusion, baking or optimization.
This is my entire test scene with an outdoor landscape being rendered with five million plants and just over 28,000 trees.

The last mountain you can see against the skyline is the center of the map. For a map that is supposed to be only for designing biomes… I may have gone overboard.
Continuing the development.
