Entering phase 1 (...I guess)
Entering phase 1 (…I guess)
Moving on from prototype level to alpha build of the island. All the game objects that were built in the prototype were converted to prefabs and successfully loaded into the new world. Awesome. This means my current package delineations are solid and nothing needs to be rebuilt at the moment.
I am testing the addressable loading manager today, and really that’s just checking logs for any issues or major inefficiencies. I can focus this week ok some server-side setup to host the updated addressables. Then the fun part of building a little UI to show update check and progress.
So, if I stay focused and don’t start kit-bashing a new town together, I may be able to get a pre-alpha release of the client published. This would allow testers to create a character in the world. Then next month I can start working on account settings and character configs (user settings) and this should also pave the way for creating the world persistence layer.
Very exciting.
